Flash is some of the most impressive software that runs on most (but far from all) computers. Many people uninstall Flash because of obnoxious ads that strobe, flicker and annoy. Flash Web sites take too long to load and then end up being a big production number about nothing. Flash menus come and go, dart in and out and make getting around seem like a game we’d rather not play. Think we don’t like Flash? We love Flash, we hate bad design.

The old saying “just because you can doesn’t mean you should” applies to Web design just as it does with everything else. Using animation to enhance is a great idea. Using animation to annoy is not.
