The graphic design diagram below indicates how design elements can communicate information visually using graphic design fundamentals.

The theme of the logo example is "Be at home with great interior design."
Components 1 through 6 each have a point to make and communicate a visual message.
1. Interior Space
The shadow within the capitol B creates an indented area or interior space within the design. The deeply chiseled interior edge of the B exhibits strength and conveys the use of solid materials and sturdy construction. The wood surface within the interior suggests fine furniture or well finished flooring.
2. Command of Space
The interior of a B is composed of two stacked openings. In order to communicate that this design represents "home design" the interior of the B is occupied by two well finished objects. The interior objects are positioned the way a designer might place furniture in a room or art objects
in a display.
3. Configured Patterns
The wood's grain is positioned vertically which reflects the growth of a tree. This direction communicates stature and vitality. The metallic interior objects are slanted upwards from left to right which in lettering analysis communicates a positive and upbeat outlook.
4. Fit and Finish
Beveled edges contribute to the depth of the design and contribute to a
substantial over all look. They are also a finishing touch that jewelers and skilled craftsmen use to show pride in a job well done.
5. Surfaces
Metal construction in combination with well finished wood communicates lasting durability. The use of high quality materials or ingredients in a product always supports the use of higher price points. The same can be said for a high quality logo. These surfaces say "we get the details right."
6. Exterior Shape
The graceful corners work harmoniously with the broad curves of the B and with the metallic objects within the B's interior. The wide arcs and broad curves communicate refined strength. Ample space is provided so
that the word "HOME" is not crowded within the design.
Graphic Design Assessment
This well planned logo design gives viewers a sense that they could reach out and touch the design. The tactile quality of the logo facilitates bonding and substantiates the brand.
